Travel Insurance
Essential coverage information for your Tanzanian safari and Zanzibar holiday.
Mandatory Requirement
Comprehensive travel insurance is a mandatory requirement for all guests traveling with Machu Tour & Safari. You must arrange this prior to your arrival in Tanzania.
1. Why You Need Travel Insurance
A safari in Tanzania is an adventure of a lifetime, but it takes you to remote wilderness areas. While we prioritize your safety above all else, unpredictable events can occur. Travel insurance protects your financial investment in case of unexpected cancellations and ensures you receive the best possible medical care if needed.
2. What Your Insurance Must Cover
When purchasing your policy, please ensure it includes adequate coverage for the following:
- Medical Emergencies & Treatment: Coverage for hospitalization and treatment while in Tanzania.
- Emergency Evacuation & Repatriation: Essential for safaris. This covers the cost of a medical rescue flight from a remote national park to a major hospital (like in Nairobi or Dar es Salaam), and flights back to your home country.
- Trip Cancellation & Interruption: Protection in case you need to cancel your trip due to illness, family emergencies, or unforeseen global events.
- Lost or Delayed Baggage: Compensation for lost luggage or essential items you need to buy if your bags are delayed by your airline.
3. Local Evacuation: AMREF Flying Doctors
For added peace of mind, we highly recommend adding an AMREF Flying Doctors specialized tourist evacuation cover to your standard insurance. This provides direct air ambulance services from remote airstrips in the Serengeti or other parks directly to the best medical facilities in East Africa.
4. Purchasing Your Policy
Machu Tour & Safari does not sell travel insurance directly. We recommend comparing policies from reputable global providers such as World Nomads, Allianz Travel, or SafetyWing. Please ensure you declare all activities you plan to do (e.g., hot air ballooning, scuba diving in Zanzibar) to ensure your coverage is valid.
